About Jerry Rockwell

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Early on in my musical career, I was enthralled by the amazing dulcimer and guitar combination of Richard and Mimi Fariña. Richard's powerful rhythms, combined with Mimi's solid guitar accompaniment inspired me to get deeper into the dulcimer. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Mimi and Richard Farina, Celebrations for a Grey Day Steeleye Span, Parcel of Rogues Will Ackerman, Positano Songs Mimi and Richard's music inspired me to play the dulcimer. Steeleye Span's groundbreaking Folk-Rock got me way deeper into Celtic folk music, and Will Ackerman's recent album is currently inspiring my ambient electric dulcimer meditations. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Snow Is Falling” This is, by far, my best and most popular composition on the acoustic/electric mountain dulcimer. The melody and chords tell a story, and there are at least three distinct sections, woven together seamlessly. The melody is one you can sing! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Performing and teaching dulcimer in Siglufjord, Iceland in July 2007. This was the highlight of my performing career: I will never forget the warmth and hospitality of the Icelanders, and the incredible musicianship of the other artists I met. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I want to visit several other Nordic countries besides Iceland. Norway and Finland would be my priorities, and connecting with their music scenes would be great!
