Giovanni Guidi

About Giovanni Guidi

Italian jazz pianist Giovanni Guidi was recruited by Enrico Rava for one of the trumpeter's "Under 21" groups. Guidi recorded two live albums with this band and appeared on Rava's Tribe (2009) and On the Dance Floor (2012). He worked as a sideman and was a member of Gianluca Petrella's Cosmic Band. Guidi released his debut as a leader with Tomorrow Never Knows (2006), and followed it with a series of Cam Jazz recordings. In 2010, he released a big-band offering, The Unknown Rebel Band. His first New York recording with Petrella, Gerard Cleaver, Thomas Morgan, and Michael Blake, We Don't Live Here Anymore, was issued in 2011. Guidi signed with ECM for City of Broken Dreams (2013). ~ Thom Jurek
