About CPO
An acronym for Capital Punishment Organization, CPO is the brainchild of rapper Lil’ Nation. Born Vince Edwards, Lil' Nation had formerly been an armed gang member in South Central Los Angeles, California from the age of 12, providing him with suitable gangsta rap credentials. However, his debut album, To Hell and Black, on which he was aided by members of the Ruthless Records/N.W.A. stable (notably MC Ren), was a poor imitation of those artists’ street hip-hop élan. In particular, his rapping carried neither the potency nor the dexterity of his better-known peers. Later working under the name CPO Boss Hogg, he would contribute rhymes to recordings by N.W.A., 2Pac, and Warren G. Lil' Nation died on January 13, 2022 at the age of 52.
