Jon Hume: The Producers

Jon Hume had already racked up considerable experience in the music business before he turned to full-time writing and producing. He fronted and co-produced the Aotearoa New Zealand alt-pop band Evermore for more than a decade, alongside his brothers Peter and Dann. After that act wrapped up, his first major credit as a co-writer was Dean Lewis’s 2019 global smash hit “Be Alright”, a universal ballad about the hard road to moving on from heartbreak. Since then, he has helped to bring out the expressive best in acts from around the world, including repeat credits with Lewis, English singer-songwriter JP Cooper, New York dance duo Sofi Tukker and Australian folk act Busby Marou. Collaborators can always count on Hume to amplify the emotional hit of a lyric or performance—witness the seismic vocal catharsis of Bebe Rexha’s self-examining 2021 track “Sabotage”—while ensuring that the broader song has plenty of room to breathe and soar.
