Thylacine: Essentials

Taking his name from an extinct Australian carnivore, French producer Thylacine is a saxophonist who has reinvented himself as a purveyor of elegant electronica. Born William Rezé, his brooding music is often the painstaking product of found sound loops, as heard on hypnotic, sax-led singles like "Home", and on his debut album, composed along a 5,000-mile Trans-Siberian Railway journey and incorporating field recordings taken along the route. Choral hymns elevate "Poly", and there is beauty to be found in the hypnotic locomotive samples on "Train".
