Born in East Punjab, singer, poet and artist Satinder Sartaaj found early influence in the traditional sounds of the flute and sarangi. He released his first album Sartaaj in 2010—an Album of the Year at the Punjabi Music Awards—gathering a collection of songs about nature in a mellow, tranquil mode. Using the flute and strings of his upbringing as a base, he adds dhol drum beats with an electronic flavour, bringing ancient melodies into the 21st century. A rich voice delivering poetic lyrics, Sartaaj delivers Sufi wisdom set to music.
