Both solo and as a member of the Wighnomy Brothers, Germany's Robag Wruhme has masterminded some of minimal techno's slinkiest, wriggliest, most delightfully kinetic grooves. His trademark rhythms skitter like ball bearings on a trampoline, but not everything is so elastic. “Wuzzelbud ‘KK'”, from his 2004 debut LP, sculpts triplet thuds and metallic crunch into a forceful floor-filler; at the other end of the spectrum, the strings-infused “Thora Vukk” is as softly contoured as rose petals. But most of the time, it's the thorns that interest him most; hence bangers like “Wuzzelbud FF”, bristling with barbs.
