Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj have since the early 2000s developed an epic sound where traditional Indian instrumentation meets the changing trends and textures of electronic music. So it comes as no surprise that the duo known as Midival Punditz have been dubbed the “Chemical Brothers of India”. They careen through the intense sonic pressure of dubstep (“The Lucky One”), serrated-edge industrial rock (“Light”) and turn-of-the-century ambient (“Naina Laagey”). The effects may be head-spinning one moment or meditative the next, but they’re always compelling.
