Intro to The Cats
Apple Music

The good vibrations of flower power reached all the way to the Netherlands in the late ‘60s. The Cats hailed from Volendam, but their brand of orchestral pop would cross international borders. Like a Dutch version of The Zombies, The Cats relied on sweet vocals and stacked harmonies, as Piet and Cees Veerman sang to the rafters. Tunes like “Scarlet Ribbons” and “Why” belong in the canon of classic pop-rock, but The Cats' repertoire extended far deeper than their hits. The band broke up in the late ‘70s, but they remain a staple of Dutch rock to this day.
