Guy Béart Essentials

An iconic singer-songwriter, Guy Béart has been producing his original French chansons since the late '50s. His first big hit was with his guitar on the sentimental folk song "L'Eau Vive", from the soundtrack to The Girl and the River. Béart's smooth, warm voice shines through his classic tunes—like the sweetly romantic and bouncy melody of "Vive la Rose" and the '60s organ and hand-clap gospel of "La Vérité", as well as the more intimate blues of "À Amsterdam". Ever the elegant entertainer, Béart sometimes brought in big band jazz sounds as in "Le Chapeau", along with his energetic guitar.
