Singer/guitarist Christone “Kingfish” Ingram is a modern-day bluesman. Through his wailing guitar and stirring voice, the Mississippi native connects the past to the present. Ingram puts a refreshing, contemporary spin on the topics addressed by his legendary influences like blues guitar pioneer Buddy Guy—with whom Ingram collaborated on 2019’s weary “Fresh Out”, which manages to sound true-to-form yet expressively innovative. While Ingram’s foundation is undoubtedly the blues, the musician also incorporates elements of hip-hop and R&B into his approach, as he does on the contemplative 2021 song “Another Life Goes By”.
