Anup Jalota, now known as one of India's greatest interpreters of bhajans and ghazals, started his career as an All India Radio chorus singer. The late actor Manoj Kumar was so impressed with Jalota's voice that he recorded four songs with him for his film Shirdi Ke Sai Baba. Since then, the classically trained vocalist may be best known for his devotional music, but he has also sung for many Hindi, Gujarati and Bengali films. Known for his versatility and range, Jalota's trademark is the grace and finesse of his renditions—and the warmth and wit he brings to his live shows.
