Producer and sound engineer thiarajxtt has a knack for hunting out the most effective collabs. In only a relatively short time at the controls, the Toronto-based beatsmith has worked with a plethora of influential artists including Shubh, Jassa Dhillon, Garry, Indrr Bajwa and Pavvan. And he has already proven his chops when it comes to crafting Punjabi R&B, trap, pop and hip-hop belters, adding a smooth melody or powerful drums whenever it suits. “Afterhours”—crafted in 2022 alongside Bir and Dhanju—sports the feel of a late-night drive thanks to the producer’s trap and synth-pop pepperings, whereas 2023’s acoustic-leaning “SPAIN” with Jassa Dhillon brings a more subtle yet no less effective approach. The latter song actually helped thiarajxtt—aka Dilmanjot Singh Thiara—break out into wider mainstream acceptance before his debut EP Heartfelt dropped later in the year, with five electronic tracks that are as soul-searching as they are party-ready.
