About Shashi

Playback singer and composer Shashi Suman embodies the determined spirit of India’s music industry, having risen from modest means to write and lead on successful party anthems and tender, romantic ballads. • Born in Patna, Bihar, Suman became interested in music thanks to the influence of his father, a government officer and tabla player. • Suman relocated to Lucknow to continue studies in Indian classical singing, and explored music further by moving to Mumbai to participate in reality shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge in 2009 and Indian Idol in 2010. • Those competitions put him on the radar for work in music, and in 2010 he broke into Bollywood with the song “Mora Piya” from the film Raajneeti, featured alongside Aadesh Shrivastava and Rosalie Nicholson. • In 2015, Suman worked with director and music composer Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bajirao Mastani and earned wide acclaim for composing the song “Ziddi Dil”, from Mary Kom, for Vishal Dadlani. • Suman later teamed up with DJ and producer Khushi Soni to collaborate on creating music for films as well as explore multilingual pop, EDM and other styles. • In 2020, the duo composed “BurjKhalifa”, the towering love song from Laxmii which further propelled Suman to stardom.
