Ophiuchus

About Ophiuchus

A folk rock group from Wiltshire, England, formed in 1986 by guitarist Jon Cousins and saxophonist Pat D’Arcy. The band had a variety of members that included Xavier Tutein and Simon Cousins (bass), Pete Causer (melodeon), Myke Vince and Ed Grimshaw (drums), Mike Badger (percussion), and Glenn Wardle (dulcimer). Often whimsical and certainly literate, Ophiuchus created ‘rural English rock’ from rustic isolation and could well have earned the tag ‘crusty’ before the Levellers. They released the double a-side, ‘Serpent And The Bearded King’/‘Song For Pym’ on their own label, Ophiuchvs Recordvs, and an album on Liverpool’s Probe Plus label. Ophiuchus disbanded in 1990.
