About Elizabeth Mitchell

Before making music for kids, Elizabeth Mitchell was one-half of the duo Liz and Lisa, with Lisa Loeb.

∙ Mitchell began her career in children’s music in 1998, inspired by her time as an assistant teacher at a nursery school and by Woody Guthrie’s album Songs to Grow on for Mother and Child.
∙ She recorded her first solo album, 1998’s You Are My Flower, in one afternoon at the home studio of His Name Is Alive founder Warren Defever.
∙ In 2012, she honored her inspiration, recording Little Seed: Songs for Children by Woody Guthrie, released in conjunction with the legendary artist’s 100th birthday.
∙ Mitchell has worked with musicians Levon Helm, The Mekons’ Jon Langford, Ziggy Marley, and fellow alternative musician-turned-children’s artist Dan Zanes.
