About DG IMMORTALS

New Delhi’s Digvijay Mehra—who performs Haryanvi rap as DG IMMORTALS—spent years in the trenches of the underground hip-hop scene before breaking out with his viral 2022 hit “BAD GUY (DG)”. Mehra was inspired to start rapping in 2008 after he caught a gig by Punjabi-American gangsta rapper Bohemia. He later co-founded rap crew Boom Shiva Immortals, performing in English and Hindi, and in 2022 he set out on his own, iterating on a dark, gritty sound that draws influence from trap, old-school hip-hop and the industrial end of the alternative-rap spectrum. The menacing, multi-tracked swagger of songs like “KALESHI CHORI” (featuring Raga, Harjas Harjaayi, VIRTUALAF and Dark Horse) reflects the aggressive machismo of the New Delhi streets, and the lo-fi production feels excitingly at odds with the pristine sounds of the Indian music mainstream. In 2023 he signed with a Universal Music India imprint VYRL Haryanvi and released his EP debut Systumm, a collection of grimy, snarling, in-your-face bangers. Equal parts accessible and experimental, DG IMMORTALS is putting Haryanvi hip-hop on the global map.
