About Benzy Wahala

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Singing and playing piano in the choir as a child was huge. Wrote my first song as a 7 year old and made my first beat at 13. My priciest memory is making loops for songs in the choir; I felt like an important part of something bigger than I was. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Burna Boy, Twice as Tall Jon Bellion, The Definition Jon Bellion, The Human Condition I love these albums because they were inspiring to listen to. From the lyrical prowess, to the soul and melody in the music. Afrosoul is my forte. Jon Bellion brings a lot of soul to his music and Burna is the king of afrobeats. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Tonight” This song is special because it is the first song I ever put out. It perfectly captures the essence of my music; soul, lyrics and melody. I produced, wrote and voiced this song. Lastly, it was inspired by love lost while chasing my dreams. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments was performing back home where my journey first started. Seeing everyone sing my music word for word was emotional. Reminded me that home is always home. Regardless of how far my dreams take me, real love is at home. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Yes. Building a brand strong enough to consistently give back to the society. The ultimate goal is to inspire as many people as I can here in Nigeria. Inspire them to believe their dreams are always valid. It is never late to chase them.
