Joro

Joro

India-based Nepali folk-fusion rock band Gauley Bhai deliver diaspora blues on their assured debut album Joro (meaning “fever”). Funk-tinged bass lines, bluesy electric guitar solos, bright jazz rhythms and vibrant violin colour their sonic paintings of life in and away from the villages of their home country. On tracks such as “Simrayo” and the title cut, they recall Sahara Desert blues ensemble Tinariwen. They invite the audience to sway along to their philosophical musings, and bask in the universal sound of music that has the ability to transcend borders.
