EDITORS’ NOTES

Composer A. R. Rahman and lyricist Gulzar were already a dream team when they partnered up on the soundtrack for Guru in 2007, and the long-time collaborators did not disappoint. The Sufi-inspired “Tere Bina”, backed by delicate guitar strums and a dominant tabla rhythm, features an ensemble of soloists alongside vocals by Rahman himself. Mariam Toller, Chinmayi and Kirti Sagathia unite on the thrilling, Middle Eastern-influenced “Mayya”—a belly dance performance by Mallika Sherawat that had audiences rapt until the credits rolled.
