Yehoram Gaon Essentials

With a rich, almost operatic voice and an emotional, dynamic performance style, Yehoram Gaon is one of Israel's most beloved singers. His career has lasted almost as long as Israel has been a country—Gaon sang in the military band of Israel's Nahal unit in the late ‘50s and still performs today, well into his seventies. His solo career began in the early ‘60s and gained momentum when he starred in the Hebrew play-turned-film Kazablan in 1966. The exposure helped Gaon introduce a repertoire of Ladino songs (thanks to his Macedonian-Turkish roots) to the Israeli pop world.
