After signing the Sex Pistols in 1977 and igniting the punk revolution, naturally Virgin Records became the label of choice for many post-punk outfits. In the late '70s and early '80s, Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon's Public Image Ltd. and acts like Devo, Magazine and Rip Rig and Panic took the DIY ethos of punk in new directions and infused it with funky, tribal and danceable beats.
