Since he started releasing music in the mid-2010s as Lane 8, Denver-based producer/DJ Daniel Goldstein has intently homed in on that point where thrumming deep house and ethereal electronic pop ecstatically converge. A lot of the tracks he’s chosen for his Selects playlist flow in a similar vein—or point to one of those extremes. “This playlist is based around music I have been playing out frequently in my recent sets and online mixtapes,” he tells Apple Music. “It’s a collection of dance-floor-focused tracks, and I hope the energy within these can translate into the daily lives of those listening.” Among picks by Bonobo, Maya Jane Coles and Monkey Safari is the lush, emotive “More Than You Ever Know” featuring Angela McCluskey, by Sultan + Shepard. “I loved having these guys release on my This Never Happened label this year,” says Goldstein. “Their Something, Everything album in March was incredible, but this might be one of their strongest tracks yet. I’m obsessed.” He’s also dropped in a few tracks from his own fourth album, 2022’s Reviver, including his third collab with UK duo Arctic Lake, “What Have You Done to Me?”.
