The voice of the common people, Ofra Haza rose from a rough neighbourhood to become a rare star in Israeli music. A humble person of undeniable charm, she found global fame in the late '80s and later earned a GRAMMY® nomination, maintaining a glittering career until her death at 42. Her versatility shines throughout her back catalogue, which includes pop, disco, ballads, Eurovision Song Contest runner-up "Chai" and chart-topper "Im Nin' Alu". The latter traditional Yemenite tune proudly harks back to her heritage and has been widely sampled, most famously on Eric B. & Rakim's “Paid in Full”.
