Philadelphia native Josh “Wink” Winkelman first gained notice as a producer in the '90s after a string of New York club hits. He broke through in 1995 with a series of anthemic singles that dominated the European dance charts, spilled over into the pop charts and earned him the indisputable rep as the year's biggest dance act. He collected these iconic tracks on 1996's Left Above the Clouds, then signed to Columbia in '97 and released his proper debut, Herehear, in '98. The following years saw more club hits as well as collaborations with boldfaced names like Trent Reznor.
