Editors' Notes Brought up in a musical family—his mother was a famous Israeli singer—the young Ariel Zilber was clearly slated to be a phenomenon. His poignant pop songs were, at first, recorded in France, but later he shifted his career focus to Israel and joined rock supergroup Tamuz in the mid-'70s. After leaving the band, Zilber had a string of successful solo albums, exploring various genres including '70s pop, hip-hop and Arabic music. Never failing to surprise his listeners (sometimes with his radical political views), he continues to perform live today, after returning to religion.
