About Now And On Earth

Canadian metalcore band Now and on Earth use towers of guitar noise, aggressive percussion, dark overlays of electronics, and flashes of pop accents to create an unrelenting sound that's dark and furious, yet also artful. Now and on Earth were formed from the ashes of Skip the Foreplay, a Montreal-based band who mixed upbeat dance sounds with metal. Skip the Foreplay broke up after releasing an album for high-profile punk label Epitaph Records, 2012's Nightlife, but lead vocalist Marc-André Fillion and guitarists Charles Pilon and Mathieu Maltais were eager to make more music, and in 2014 they teamed up with bassist and singer Anthony Alain-Rossi, keyboard player Phillipe Ferguson, and drummer Nick Tremblay. Conjuring a sound that took Skip the Foreplay's approach in a significantly more sinister and muscular direction, they adopted the name Now and on Earth, and Epitaph appreciated the band's new direction enough to add Now and on Earth to their roster. After entering the studio with producer Frank Daniel Shooflar, Now and on Earth emerged with their debut album, Blacked Out, which was released in April 2015. ~ Mark Deming
