About Johnny Flynn

Since first appearing in the latter half of the 2000s, English singer/songwriter Johnny Flynn has successfully navigated dueling careers as a folk-rock luminary and an in-demand actor across film, television, and theater, occasionally merging the two disciplines with his popular theme song to the beloved BBC Four series Detectorists and his portrayal of David Bowie in the 2020 film Stardust. Backed by his longtime band the Sussex Wit, Flynn has amassed an impressive catalog of albums, such as 2008's A Larum, 2013's Country Mile, and 2017's Sillion, that fuse English and American folk traditions with poetic, driving rock. After several years primarily devoted to his acting career, he returned with Lost in the Cedar Wood (2021) and The Moon Also Rises (2023), both made in collaboration with nature writer Robert MacFarlane.
