About Grey

Known for their feel-good dance-pop, the sibling electronic duo Grey exploded onto the charts in the 2010s with the Zedd collaborations “Starving” and “The Middle”. • Growing up in southern California, Kyle Trewartha spent his time playing guitar in metal bands, while his brother Michael focused on skateboarding before joining his school’s drumline. They eventually began producing music together. • Kyle was the first to pick up digital production—he released tunes under the name Singularity from 2011 to 2014. When Michael joined in, they took the name Grey. • The duo caught its big break when they sent a bootleg remix of Jack Ü’s “Where Are Ü Now” to Skrillex. He responded quickly and asked for more tracks. • Grey sent Skrillex a bootleg remix of Zedd’s “Beautiful Now”, and Skrillex forwarded it to Zedd’s manager. Grey and Zedd began working together almost immediately. • Zedd and Grey’s first collaboration was 2016’s “Starving”, featuring Hailee Steinfeld, which charted in two dozen countries and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. • In 2018, they teamed up with Zedd and country singer Maren Morris for “The Middle”, which charted in more than 30 countries and reached No. 5 on the Hot 100. It was also nominated for two Grammys: Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
