Jewish American vocalist Yaakov Shwekey started out singing Hasidic-Ashkenazi songs in the early '00s—he's since gone on to dig deeper into his roots. Mixing influences from East and West, as well as traditional Jewish music and pop, Shwekey puts his crystalline vocals to worthy use, singing of his experiences in Yiddish, Hebrew and English, on this double-album compilation. Among the tracks are eight medleys of classic Jewish music, updated with modern orchestration and rich production, plus a rare recording of an 11-year-old Shwekey performing with a boys' choir.
