Great music doesn't always have to be provocative. Take Slave for example. While these Ohio funketeers rarely got overly ambitious with their grooves, they made a living off of writing and performing strong, simple hooks, and big, mesmerizing vibes. "Slide," the lead track off their debut record, is one such gem, a monster funk workout with a nasty bass line and a guitar solo two minutes in that'll make say, "Yeah!" And that's only the first cut. The rest of the album smokes, too-there's only one ballad-so break out the star shades and glitter pumps and get down.
