Zeds Dead Essentials

In the ‘10s, as boundaries blurred between EDM, hip-hop and pop, Toronto's Zeds Dead arrived to make the most of those porous borders. Hybrid to the core, the early single "Rude Boy" marries classic boom-bap breaks with ragga samples and serrated dubstep bass. Fast forward to 2016 and "Blame", a collaboration with Diplo and the singer Elliphant that juggles jump-up rhythms with indie-rock production touches and a tinge of tropical house's re-pitched vocals. At the other end of the spectrum, the Oliver Heldens collaboration "You Know" is a punchy future-garage showstopper, proof of the duo's house prowess.
