Fizzing with restless energy and bursting with vibrant sounds both digital and organic, Evan Shornstein’s music as Photay brilliantly synthesises two very different influences. One is the brainy yet propulsive electronic music of Aphex Twin, an obsession for Shornstein while growing up in Woodstock, New York. The other is the West African polyrhythms he grew to love when he travelled to Guinea as part of his music composition studies.
