Though MxPx formed in 1992 in Washington state at the height of grunge, their hearts always belonged to the pop-punk rising in Southern California. And early on, they proved they had a firm grasp on both sides of the equation, offsetting bratty blasts like “Punk Rawk Show” with tuneful, jangly turns like “Chick Magnet”. But unlike many of their mosh-pit peers, MxPx grounded teen-angst anthems like “Responsibility” in positive, faith-based principles, making them fixtures on Warped Tour lineups and Billboard Christian charts alike. They’ve continued to kick out pogo-ready pick-me-ups with undiminished vigour, as demonstrated by 2021 single “Can’t Keep Waiting”.
