Django Django are a band dazzled by the possibilities of curated sound, at times resembling the reanimated ghost of record collections past. Inspired by Joe Meek and The Beta Band (with whom they share a family connection), they weave psychedelic pop songs from monkish group vocals, burbling synths, daring chord changes and wonky noises. Having created a distinct musical universe with their Mercury-nominated debut album in 2012, they began working in more electro-pop elements with subsequent releases—offset with surf guitar, obviously—while always retaining their natural kaleidoscopic intensity.
