Thanks in no small part to the ageless teen timbre of Eriko Hashimoto's vocal chords, all-girl band Chatmonchy were a firm success on the poppusu concert circuit as edgy purveyors of power pop. The band's songwriting chops made to fan favourites like "Last Love Letter", wherein a deftly paced chorus takes front and centre, and the catchy, danceable indie-rock of "Shangrila". Downsizing to a duo in 2011, later albums such as Henshin and Kyoumei showed that Chatmonchy had lost none of their verve, resulting in thick flurries of guitar riffs.
