At Home With Andrea Bocelli: The Playlist

Andrea Bocelli is grateful for spending more quality time with his loved ones during the pandemic. “We’ve had the opportunity to stay together for some time and it has been very, very beautiful,” Bocelli says. “It has been also very important to discover, again, the opportunity to speak with them, especially with my sons. Of course, I would prefer to stay with my family as a choice, and not for a reason as bad as this.” In his At Home With interview with Zane Lowe, the Italian operatic tenor shared his expectations and concerns about performing again, working with Ed Sheeran on their duet “Perfect Symphony” and the challenges he faced covering Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” on his 17th studio album Believe. Bocelli also expressed his admiration and respect for Céline Dion, who’s represented here on this exclusive Apple Music playlist Bocelli curated himself—which also features the likes of Reba McEntire, Tony Bennett and Mario Lanza. “Céline and I, we are big friends,” he says. “We haven’t had the opportunity to be together many times, but our relationship has always been very, very strong—ever since she called me to participate at one of her concerts. And she said a phrase that everyone remembers now: ‘If God had a voice, it should have the voice of Andrea Bocelli.’”
