“Whatever happened to good music?” asks singer Dave Couse in one of this Dublin band's best-known songs. He and A House go about doing it for themselves, melding the jangly melancholy of The Smiths, the spiky underground rock of The Velvet Underground and the bounciness of Britpop. Tying it all together is Couse, a frontman with an untamed vocal delivery and lyrics that are both witty and caustic, whether he's dissecting failed relationships or declaring himself the saviour of modern music.
