About T42

A straightforward rock band whose reputation was built on steady work in Luxembourg's live scene, T42 (no relation to the Dallas-based electronic band) have managed to score a number of hits since their first EP, Waiting for the Light, in 1992, and the subsequent hit single, "Marie-Anne." A second single, "Prayers for Love," a midtempo rock ballad with an interesting production, took the top spot in 1993. T42 released T42 for Added Protection in 1994, donating the profits from the album to an AIDS research foundation, following this with an AIDS benefit tour that raised more than half a million francs for the cause. A single from the album, "She Dances Until She Breaks Down," gave them another major hit. 1995's Welcome to Our World yielded number one hits "Kitty," "Autumn Leaves" and "Christmas in July," while "Welcome to Our World" and "Hello, Hello, Hello" went into the Top Five. After touring Germany, Luxembourg and England in 1996, the band recorded Bad Hair Day for a November 1996 release. The record immediately yielded a number one single, "Oceans." After the inevitable tour and festival appearances, the band members intended to take a year off, those plans being scrapped after demand for the group proved too much to ignore. The band has a fair amount of talent, with some solid material (mostly sung in English) that might do well outside of the European market, though it so far seems that major North American interest is not yet forthcoming, which may be one reason why they covered Bob Geldof's "The Great Song of Indifference." In 1998, the band touried with Fish, albeit with a somewhat altered lineup due to a mix of injuries and other commitments by band members. ~ Steven McDonald
