About Ntate Stunna

Born Thaabe Letsie in 1996 and sometimes known as MegaHertz, Ntate Stunna raps to raise the profile of Lesotho, the tiny nation encircled by South Africa. Acknowledging the dearth of rhymes in Sesotho, the language of his homeland's Sotho people, Stunna crafts credible autobiographical tracks that blend trap with famo, a traditional Lesotho style featuring accordion, oil-can drums and female ululation. Influenced by the likes of 50 Cent and Nigeria's Ice Prince, Stunna released his debut single, "From Khaya to Jozi", in 2014, joining a Lesotho rap scene that includes collaborators like Kommanda Obbs and Malome Vector. Stunna's career took off in 2019, when a promo for his 2020 debut album, Sesotho Fashioneng, went viral. Stunna played a freestyling weatherman in the promo, which relaunched his 2017 track "I'm Not the One". An aspiring filmmaker, Stunna also directed the low-key Lesotho-centric video for his compelling famo-tinged hit "Ke Thata”.
