Florian Krumpöck

About Florian Krumpöck

Florian Krumpöck has achieved prominence as both a pianist and a conductor. His recorded repertory leans toward German and Austrian repertory from the 19th and 20th centuries. Krumpöck benefited from instruction by some of the top pianists in the world, including Daniel Barenboim, whom he considered a mentor and who influenced his eventual turn toward conducting. An early backer was actor and classical music entrepreneur Peter Ustinov. Krumpöck's 2002 debut recording, Portrait Florian Krumpöck: Music by Franz Liszt, emphasized virtuoso repertory. Krumpöck's repertory as a pianist focuses on repertory from the German-speaking sphere, both traditional 19th century pieces and more modern works. Krumpöck held various regular conducting posts, including those at Austria's Beethoven Philharmonie from 2006 to 2010. Since 2015, he has been general manager of the Kultur.Sommer.Semmering festival. In 2023, as a pianist, Krumpöck released a pair of albums featuring Chopin's works.
