About Fire In the Radio

Taking their name from the poem "Regard Me" by Charles Bukowski, Philadelphia's Fire in the Radio employ a moody and muscular, yet earworm-heavy blend of melodic punk and needle-in-the-red indie pop. Emerging in 2014, the band is comprised of veteran Philly musicians Adam Caldwell (drums), Richard Carbone (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Miller (guitar, vocals), and Ed Olsen (bass). The group's debut album, Telemetry, was released in 2015 and found favor both at home and abroad with its catchy blend of pop-punk and emo-tinged indie rock. 2017's dynamic New Air brought more accolades, with the band sharpening their sound and drawing comparisons to early indie punk trailblazers like Jawbreaker, Husker Du, and Superchunk. They expanded their sonic oeuvre on 2020's significantly darker Monuments, which added elements of grunge, shoegaze, and brooding post-punk and new wave to the mix. ~ James Christopher Monger
