In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was about five years old when I began to discover my parents' records. My father bought Burt Bacharach, Morricone, Ray Charles. My mother Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky. A fortune to be able to listen to so much beautiful and different music. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? André Previn, Wiener Philharmoniker, Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition - Ravel: La Valse Lyle Mays, Lyle Mays Ryuichi Sakamoto, Chasm Chasm is the perfect marriage of melody and electronics, great Sakamoto. Mays here makes us feel how important his contribution to the Pat Metheny Group is. wonderful. The last one: a masterpiece by Mussorgsky and Ravel at the same time, incredible! Tell us why you chose this song. “A Whole Life” I wrote this piece thirty years ago and, for one reason or another, have never been able to publish it. Then I met the voice of South African singer Abby Strickland and I was convinced that the time was right. This song represents me perfectly. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My first live in Milan, my city, my legs were shaking completely out of control, it took me an hour to calm down. But then I was happy, I was able to play in front of some hundred people, a great satisfaction. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I have at least a thousand! Such as playing together with Ryuichi Sakamoto or Pat Metheny. Or even compose a soundtrack with Robert De Niro as the protagonist :)
