About Evangelicals

Like fellow Oklahoma exports the Flaming Lips, Evangelicals play a slightly warped brand of pop-minded psychedelic indie rock. The band is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Josh Jones, who recorded most of the Evangelicals' debut album, SO GONE, as a solo project in 2005. After enlisting bassist Kyle Davis and drummer Austin Stevens, Evangelicals began to play live and tour regularly, and SO GONE was released in 2006 on Misra Records. Their second album, 2008's THE EVENING DESCENDS, featured washy atmospherics, choral harmonies, and quirky, catchy melodies, demonstrating the further evolution of their sound.
