About Duck Sauce

Duck Sauce is a fun-loving nu-disco superduo made up of A-Trak and Arman van Helden, both legendary DJs and producers in their own right. • A-Trak is the younger brother of Dave-1, lead singer of the Canadian electro-funk group Chromeo. The other member of Chromeo, synth player P-Thugg, introduced A-Trak to Armand van Helden, laying the groundwork for Duck Sauce. • From 2004 to 2007, A-Trak worked as Kanye West’s tour DJ. The rapper gave his blessing to the Duck Sauce moniker, and he even appears in the music video for the 2010 single “Barbra Streisand”. • The duo emerged in 2009 with “aNYway”, a feel-good tune made mostly from a sample of Final Edition’s 1979 song “I Can Do It (Anyway You Want It)”. It charted in four countries and hit No. 1 on the UK dance and indie charts. • A year later, Duck Sauce returned with their sophomore single, “Barbra Streisand”, a tongue-in-cheek nu-disco novelty jam that samples Boney M.'s 1979 hit “Gotta Go Home”. The single charted around the world and reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance Club Songs tally in the US. It also topped the dance charts in the UK and reached No. 3 on pop. The song earned Duck Sauce a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording. • The much-hyped “Barbra Streisand” music video features an impersonator of the titular actress, as well as cameos from the aforementioned West, Ezra Koenig, Questlove, Pharrell, DJ Premier and others. • Weird and wonderful music videos are a big part of the Duck Sauce brand. “Big Bad Wolf” and “Mesmerize”, both directed by Keith Schofield, are particularly mind-bending. • The duo’s 2014 debut album, Quack, compiles previously released singles and new material. The duo then went on a six-year hiatus before reemerging in 2020 with a string of singles, including “Smiley Face” and “Mesmerize”.
