About Death Of Guitar Pop

While taking lyrical influence from social observation in the work of songwriters such as Suggs, Damon Albarn, and Alex Turner, musically, Essex, U.K.'s mid-2010s-formed Death of Guitar Pop send their ska revival obsession through a Britpop filter to craft knowing, uplifting, danceable tunes. Neville Staple was featured on 2017's "Suburban Ska Club," giving a boost to the duo's profile ahead of their full-length debut, 69 Candy Street. Like that album, its 2019 follow-up, In Over Our Heads, brought contributions from Bad Manners' brass section. Following a charity Christmas single on which James Buckley of The Inbetweeners fame guested, both 2021's Pukka Sounds and 2023's Be Lucky made their way into the U.K. Top 30.
