Latin pop pinger Cristian Castro released his Grammy Award-nominated debut, Agua Nueva, at age 17. ∙ His first No. 1 single, “Nunca Voy a Olvidarte,” won Pop Song of the Year at both the 1994 Billboard Latin Music Awards and Lo Nuestro Awards. ∙ On the Spanish-language version of Michael Jackson’s 9/11 charity single, “What More Can I Give,” Castro sang alongside Carlos Santana, Gloria Estefan, and Mariah Carey. ∙ Irish boy band Westlife duetted with him on an updated version of their chart-topping single “Flying Without Wings,” from their album Unbreakable – The Greatest Hits Volume 1. ∙ Castro has recorded two tribute albums to his musical idol, Latin pop icon José José: 2010’s Viva el Príncipe and 2011’s . ∙ For El Cantar de la Muerte—the 2014 debut album from his heavy metal side-project, La Esfinge—he worked with Grammy Award-winning producer David Bottrill (Tool). ∙ In 2020, he contributed vocals to the 30-artist supergroup charity single “Resistiré” to raise money for COVID-19 patient care resources in Mexico.
