About Andres Luis Virola

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The genesis of my style stemmed from writing music for hypothetical D&D scenarios. Most of it was just "doing whatever" as my mind ran away writing fantastical scenes to score to. Now I'm hoping my music will serve well in other people's adventures. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Berliner Philharmoniker, John Williams, John Williams: The Berlin Concert Guillaume David, Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus (Original Soundtrack) Two Steps From Hell, SkyWorld Skyworld: My first step into the world of epic orchestral music. It blew my 12 year old mind. Mechanicus OST: Never played it before but I keep coming back anyway. John Williams: Third place is contested but he wins out by craft and sheer exposure. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Doomed Paladin Returns” The idea that eventually became Doomed Paladin Returns has been on quite a journey. This track is actually the third iteration of a piece I originally wrote in high school that the orchestra performed. I'm really grateful for that early experience. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? High school was wrapping up and the school orchestra was going to play another of my pieces but COVID lockdown changed everyone's plans. For me it was a long and needed pause where my plans were halted but I started learning what's really important. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I think I'd like to score for film one day. I've had many thoughts about where I might like to see my music go but that's been the longest standing idea so far. Until then I'll just be trying to sharpen my skills and write what'll resonate.
