For Massachusetts punk band A Wilhelm Scream, home is where the heart is and, apparently, also where creativity happens. Guitarist/vocalist Trevor Reilly not only co-produced Lose Your Delusion—the group's first release since 2013's Partycrasher—but A Wilhelm Scream recorded the album at Reilly's newly built home studio. The resulting music sounds focused and energised, ditching the brawny, metalcore-leaning heft of Partycrasher and instead wading into nimble melodic hardcore and breakneck-speed punk. Hollering gang vocals and lightning-flash riffs drive stand-outs "GIMMETHESHAKES" and "The Enigma". At other times, they're not afraid to get personal: the searing "Be One To No One" pairs brutally honest lyrics about living with depression ("I've been overwhelmed with doubt and stress/I wanna make sense of this/But I'm broken in the brain") with whiplash-inducing drums and frenzied guitars.
