While it's a coincidence that Indonesia's The Rain share a name with an early incarnation of Oasis, similarities between the two bands do exist: both love bright, insistent melodies and a '90s alt-rock guitar sound. From the release of their debut, Rain This Time, in 2003, The Rain has set about building their own brand of guitar pop. Hearty guitar jangle is bolstered by an unshakeable rhythm section, rich harmonies and sunny lead vocals. Such traits shine through on their celebrated hits, but The Rain are shrewd and subtle enough to turn the volume down for more anthemic power ballads.
